LONELINESS, ONLY DE-FACTO ISOLATION?
Community turns up in unexpected places — perhaps not in the mobile, middle-class realm of mostly-young artists, but “Community + Loneliness” is well juxtaposed by the exhibition next door: “Troost, Troost, Troost: Student Work Exploring Realities, Possibilities, and Fantasies on Troost Avenue,” also presumably by the upcoming generation. Both work to demonstrate the idea of community as not only a collection of people who happen to live near one another, but of intentionally networked individuals who care and who understand that there is not just one culture at work in the United States.
