August 28, 8 p.m. Bird of Paradise in Slow Time A special screening of Christina McPhee's new video work, as a preview to a solo exhibition of her work at Cara and Cabezas in 2011. McPhee is from Los Angeles, studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and received her MFA in painting from Boston University. She works across mediums, including drawing, video, and photomontage, often using a hybrid of them, and has described her work as "psychogenerative" in how landscapes emerge through her assemblage of site-specific work. Corinthian Hall Celebrating 100 Years "This year marks the 100th anniversary of Corinthian Hall, the residence of Robert A. Long and his family, and the historic home of the Kansas City Museum. The Corinthian Hall Centennial will be celebrated all year long with special events, programs and activities. The Kansas City Museum will be celebrating the 'century mark' each month with a dynamic series of lectures, workshops, books, films and seminars that highlight Corinthian Hall’s unique architecture and the Long family’s deep and abiding commitment to the civic well-being of Kansas City."

Hard Hat Tours Friends of the Kansas City Museum are invited to get an up-close look at how the renovations are going at Corinthian Hall, led by Museum Director Christopher Leitch.

Community Curator Program Historians and history educators share perspectives on artifacts they choose from the Museum collection, providing fresh insight about artifacts and collections of Kansas City Museum and Union Station, usually on the fourth Tuesday of the month and including presentation of actual artifacts.
