July 8, August 12 & October 14, 6-10 p.m. 2011 Mission Art Walks This festival-style celebration of community and creativity invites residents and visitors of Johnson County to come out and enjoy visual art, live music, chalk art competitions, along with food and drinks in downtown Mission, Kansas, along Woodson between Martway and Johnson Drive. Galleries and artists intrested in participating can contact Sharon Miller of Art Glass Productions (at sharon@artglasspro.com). For August 12, food is offered by RJ's Bob-Be-Que Shack and Miguel's, with bar service by Mission Theatre, and live music by Bluesberry Jam. All the art booths are full: more than 25 participating artists, including VALA Gallery, Mike Worley. September 15 Dinner with the Artist ARTichokes' founder, Rebecca Pashia, will be our featured artist, presenting a new series of oil paintings. Becky will talk about and demonstrate her creative process, then sit down with guests to enjoy a three-course dinner catered by Room 39. May 12, 7-8:30 p.m. Preview the Building-in-the-Raw Artist and project founder Nicole Emanuel, with the Arts Council of Johnson County and Arts and Recreation Foundation of Overland Park, invite you to see the potential site of a yet-untitled new arts place for studios, exhibitions, and events. The presentation at 7:30 p.m. includes information about plans and programming, potential-tenant sign-up, and opportunites to make suggestions. Bring your flashlights with you and look forward to music and performance by DJ Leo Night US; the building is located at Santa Fe Drive, near the round-about that has the Gary Kahle sculpture.
