April 28, 7 p.m. Peregine Honig KCAI alumna Honig was born in San Fransisco and lives and works in Kansas City. Honig’s work is in numerous private and public collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Yale University Art Gallery, the Fogg Art Museum, the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Kansas City Art Institute. A portfolio of lithographs, Father Gander, published by the Lawrence Lithography Workshop, was recently acquired by the 21C Museum in Louisville and the Ball State University Museum of Art. Widow, her most recent project, published in collaboration with Landfall Press, is a one-volume, limited-edition fashion magazine. In fall 2010, she took second place in the Bravo Channel's Work of Art: Next Great Artist reality show.

On May 3, he returns with Fundraising and Strategic Planning for Artists of All Disciplines, providing an overview of some of the soundest ways to bring more resources to your work, how to place each project within the context of long-term goals, and how to ground your artistic production in a life that satisfies you. The workshop includes some basic principles that apply to any kind of fundraising, as well as some specifics for bringing in individual contributors, co-producers and other innovative strategies. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; a $5 fee includes either or both talks. Space is limited, so advance registration is required. May 14, 1 p.m. Creative Cookie Decorating Kerstin Kolbe, Former partner of P.S. Sweets hosts a cookie-decorating workshop. Cookies and decorating materials provided; open to all while supplies last.
May 14, 1-4 p.m. You're Invited (1980-2011) Join artist B.J. Vogt as he reenacts a consecutive series of his own birthdays complete with candles, song, decorations, costumes, and cake, after cake, after cake… Stay and watch the artist create a cake sculpture at the end of this endurance performance.
May 15, 3-4:30 p.m. Now Serving —Food as Mutations Margaret Shelby gives a public presentation and performance of written accounts, and real-time interviews with military personnel and scholars in the field of military studies and wartime meal preparation.
