"Doug Schwietert’s assemblages are a blend of nostalgia and disillusion with a boundless vision of the world. The aged and battered objects collected to make these works may be the debris of a utopian vision of the future from our past, which has turned sour, wilted, and decayed. They are puzzles. However, nothing is given away, and there are no solutions." Image and quoted text: courtesy of the gallery
