FIFTH/FINAL FRIDAY CALENDAR DIGEST, JULY 2010
July 30 — August 5, 2010

Christopher Bostwick, "Good News: Here it Comes," colored pencil on paper, 5" x 7", is part of a collection of drawings, some as large as 60' x 48' by the recent graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute and opening July 30 at Wonder Fair gallery in Lawrence, Kansas. From the gallery: "These drawings take the form of a set or stage, the theatrics of which are always implied, the actors never shown. Bostwick sets the scenes, rife with absurd details culled from a culture of excess and Google image searches. He revels in humorous juxtapositions and complicitous pairings. His drawings become abandoned scenes full of misleading clues to the most banal of mysteries — the everyday." Image: courtesy of the artist and gallery
For those of you in the Kansas City metro area, Lawrence is the place to be tonight, unless you are going to KC Fringe Festival events — a tough call! Click here to read more about the films showing during Fringe (by the Kansas City Independent Filmmaker's Coalition).
