The Nelson-Atkins Musuem of Art

Kansas City, Missouri
September 26, 2009 — January 17, 2010

The final days of this meditative installation in Kansas City are here. This rendition of Laib's work is on a larger scale than originally conceived in New York in 2007. The 4,315 mounds of rice and five mounds of pollen are soon to be swept away from view.

The sculpture fills a room, providing an impact that can not be translated through photography — it is experiential in its concept and its consumption; Pam Tayor of Present Magazine shares the process of its creation and its purpose in this review.
